Farindola
"The deserted crumbling alleyways and weathered walls of Farindola became my focus for a body of work I made whilst in Italy with colleague Karen Stamper as I joined her annual trip. Lines of telegraph wires hang everywhere; buildings lie abandoned, some ancient, some modern concrete with hints of green growing on empty balconies ... there is a sense of timelessness about the place - it seems to be standing still. Young people have left for the cities. The only constant is the sky."
