ABOUT THE HOLDING SERIES
24 Works on Paper

ABOUT THE HOLDING SERIES - JUNE 2020
At the beginning of lockdown, I wanted to create beautiful landscapes and escape inside my head. Now, months on, I'm in limbo. Actually, I've been feeling that I am neither coming nor going - I have my grown-up son at home - he's autistic and it's hard to help him understand things. My frustration and feelings of being trapped may well echo his feelings, though he can never express any of this to me. Inbetween all this worry, I've been following my hand and heart as always, creating the pieces you see here - triggered by just that sense of being contained, hanging on and being in limbo. I call these 'Holding' pieces referring to the inner world of my son and my feelings too; and the idea of holding, protecting and nurturing one's family at this time.  In these paintings, the colours are in harmony, but the lines enclose, repeat or break out of confinement.

These artworks are part of the #artistsupportpledge where I pledge to support another artist by making a purchase.
I have made a donation to The National Autistic Society.  Thank you for your support.

to make a moving visual image."
