A Masterclass with Artist Lesley Birch
on Sunday April 17th, 2016 - Helmsley Arts Centre, Yorkshire
How does colour affect you? Can you mix specific colours to convey or arouse particular emotions? How can you place colour on the support? What marks can you make with colour? What is your personal palette?
This workshop offers a special opportunity to spend time playing with the power of colour using acrylics and other media with direction and teaching from exhibiting artist Lesley Birch.
You’ll be encouraged to experiment and take risks with mark-making and colour choices. Lesley will give insights into her own ways of working as well as referring to other artists’ approaches.
This workshop would suit artists with some painting experience, although beginners are also very welcome.
For lunch you can bring a packed lunch or purchase sandwiches nearby.

The course can be as intensive or relaxed as you like. Here are some of the areas we'll address in the four and half hours:
The Power & Effect of Colour Applying your favourite colours Looking at other artists' work Collaging effects Transparent and Opaque metallics and iridescent Mixing Media Personal Palette Placement of Colour Subject matter choices Abstract or Representation Colour Wheel Colour and Emotion/Reaction Tea and Coffee are available as needed throughout the course For lunch bring a packed lunch or pop out into Helmsley. You may wish to continue painting over this period or take a break. It's really up to you! |
