Pandemic Projects
2020 has been an incredibly difficult year for everyone, including artists, musicians and creative people isolated in their studios. All open studio events, exhibitions and courses were cancelled and so a scheme called the Artist Support Pledge set up by artist Matthew Burrows inspired many artists like me on paths otherwise untrodden via the social media platform Instagram. I ended up creating three projects for myself - 21 days in Isolation - Holding Series - and in November during the second lockdown, my Lucky Dip Project. I have produced more paintings than I ever have before in one year. The panic and isolation felt in lockdown put me in creative mode as there was nothing to do but paint and the pieces were small enough to pop in the post.
